Christmas Trees

Here is my first tree, yeah I know it is only 3ft. tall. This year I decided to only pick out certain ornaments to put on the tree. They are all either needlepoint, knitted or crocheted. And were ALL made by my Grandma Russell. She even made the tree angel. Next year I will have another "theme" maybe all wooden ornaments.

And here is my second tree. All of the ornaments on this tree are antique I believe. Glass bells and balls that came from one of my Grandparents. If I had more of these the 3ft. tree would have them next year, but unfortunately this is all I have.

I do have a 6ft. tree, but maybe next year!!!!!

Hail Storm 6/16

We had a hail storm today at 2:45 in the afternoon while I was at work. Who would have thought that when I arrived home there would still be remnants in the yard 2 1/2 hours later. Tried to take a picture next to a penny to show the size but everytime I picked one up they would melt to fast. Sorry!!

"Tis the Season"

So sorry I have not blogged. But the flag says it all, this is my time of the year. I never thought 10 years ago this would be a sport that I would like. But I have become very additive and VERY competitive. I probably play about 3 to 4 times a week, belonging to a golf club does that to you because I guess you need to get your monies worth. My league is on Thursday's and for the second time in my life as they say in golf terms I got an "Eagle" . It was on the 360 yard tenth hole at Wa-Noa which is a Par 5 for women. I chipped in from the fairway for a 3!! We have a couples tournament coming up this weekend that is supposed to be fun, but last time Butch and I played it was nothing but arguments!! He insisted we sign up this year after taking two years off from it. The format is alternated shot-the men tee off on all the odd holes and the women tee off on all the even holes-then we alternate shots from there-it gets really UGLY!! Hopefully this year we will have a little bit more fun! I will fill you in next week.

Lacking Lilacs

To all of the gardeners out there!!!!!

Here is my lilac tree, it was bought on Mothers Day weekend 2004 near my sisters house up in the north country. It does grow every year, but has never had a lilac on it. I would want nothing more than to have a vase of lilacs in my house off of my own tree. Usually I go to my mom's or to my friends to get them, but that is getting old. I want to be able to go out my door to my own tree. Does anyone have any ideas for me ?

ICE IT! Update

Mike stopped by today, he is off the crutches and is back to work. Although he is at the desk, by the end of this week or the beginning of next he will be back in the field.Therapy is three times a week for the next four weeks but the doctor said he should be back hiking and kayaking in no time. This means that he will be able to play golf next Monday, but will have to take a cart instead of walk. But the upside to that is there will be more room in the cart for beer or tanqueray just in case his knee starts to bother him. (or at least that what he says)

Pick UP Sticks!

We get to play this game every spring when the yard dries up. These are "most" of the sticks from the backyard. I missed happy hour today with my friends for this. So next year I decided that I will have dinner and drinks for anyone who wants to help!! The backyard is 123x86 so there is plenty of space for everyone. The quicker we get it done the more time for cocktails!!! I will let everyone know the day!! Bet you can't wait.

ICE IT!

Butch's son Mike had knee surgery for a torn miniscus on Friday March 21st. Everything went well during surgery. But when the doctor sent him home he had told him to "Ice It" so listening to what the doctor said, as everyone does that is what he did. Being on pain killers and not having too much feeling in his knee he continued to "Ice it". After a week went by he relized that nothing was getting any better, in fact it was much worse. So on Friday the 28th. he went back to the doctor and learned that he has frost bite.

So to all the people that have never had or seen frost bite, it is the big orange welts on his knee!! Poor Mike, lets hope he gets better soon, golf league starts on April 21st. and he is really looking forward to it.

FiNgERnAils

My Grandma Ruszczyk always had the best nails; she used to spend hours soaking them in knox gelatin and wrapping them with coffee filters to make the strong. She then would let me paint them any color that I wanted. I was always so jealous of them, because since I was a child I have always chewed mine till the bled! HOW DISGUSTING!! Grandma used to buy me the nail polish that had a nasty tasted to it, even that did not work. Later in my life I tried acrylic nails, but they were to much of a hassle to keep up. Nothing would work until December 19, 2007 rolled around and I chipped a small sliver off one of my front teeth, nothing too bad, but off I go to the dentist to have my tooth bonded. Not knowing how I chipped it I decided that it was the whole nail biting thing. So on December 21, 2007 I gave it up. Here they are February 13, 2008. Finally at the age of … I did it!!! Wish Grandma could see them now. She would be sooooo proud!!

Mine are not quite as long as hers as you can see, and I don't spend hours on them, but I DID IT!

Makaki'i

My friend Char went to Hawaii for the SECOND time in October of "07", for my birthday this is what she brought me home to hang from my car's rearview mirror. Everyone who has got into my car since then has said "What is this thing?" or "It is so ugly it is cute!". LA Girl was the worst! But now she sends me text messages everytime she see's this "HEAD" as she calls it, hanging in a car in LA. So I had to do some research. It is a Ikaika Warrior Helmet also known as "Makaki'i. The Ikaika is used for good luck and to ward off evil spirits. So if you ever have a chance to go to Hawaii, pick yourself up one, it has worked for me... so far.... Or better yet if I ever have a chance to go to Hawaii I will pick one up for you. They do come in a variety of colors to match your car.

For my sister-my very first blog!!

After seeing LA Girls blog today, I spoke to her and decided that I had to breakdown and do my very first blog. I did not want my sister to get jeolous about the street named after "LA Girl" because in November when I was in LA we were driving down Rodeo Dr. we came across this street or should I say drive, and that to does have the right spelling of the name "Gale"
